I am concerned !
I’ve been waiting to write this and it’s been a few days of building thoughts and emotions. This one might get long, because honestly, I’m concerned. Very concerned. And frustrated. I may not post this immediately. I want to take my time to explain it properly.
It’s our favorite season of mangoes, ice-creams and vacations. Remember how we used to get excited about summers? School would shut down, and we’d get that much-awaited 1.5-month holidays. A Pure joy.
I changed schools often while growing up, and I remember one particular question that popped into my mind in 10th grade:
“Why do we have summer vacations? Shouldn’t we have monsoon vacations instead?” Especially in Mumbai, where the monsoons bring chaos and floods. I used to get drenched just walking to school. From July to September, it poured like there was no end.
But today, I think I know the answer. We actually need summer vacations, because stepping out in this heat feels like walking into fire. It’s June, and the temperature is hovering near 45°C. How are we suppose to go to school or office like this?
Sure, we have ACs and coolers. But how do I cool down the scorching water running through the tap?
It’s unbearable. And it didn’t happen overnight. We’ve been warned for years about global warming. We’ve read the headlines, seen the graphs, maybe even shared a post or two. But most people still won’t take action, and that’s the truth.
I’m not here to preach or list the side effects of climate change, we already know the consequences. We need to change something, Now, Not tomorrow. Even if you’re not the one polluting, you’ll still face the consequences. We all will. This isn’t a future problem anymore. It’s already at our door.
